2022 Board Member Self-Nomination

OVERVIEW

The Oregon Girls Lacrosse Association (“OGLA”) is the governing board for girls’ high school and youth lacrosse (grades 1-12) in the state of Oregon. OGLA is calling for self-nominations to fill six vacant openings on our Board of Directors. We are looking for directors passionate about lacrosse and/or high-quality sports programming, and want to see girls’ lacrosse in Oregon be rewarding for everyone: players, parents, schools, coaches, umpires. There is a particular need for directors interested in growing diversity and overall numbers of youth players.

Board seats are unpaid, working positions and individuals will be expected to contribute both time (average 2-4 hours/month) and expertise to a wide range of activities with OGLA participation or oversight. The Board will meet approximately 5 times a year and then Youth and High School committees will meet approximately 4-5 times a year. OGLA employs an executive director/administrator who runs the day-to-day operations of OGLA, but Board members are involved in operational as well as strategic issues. Board terms are 2 years in length. Overview of openings:

  • 6 At-Large Board positions. For the 6 at-large positions, seats are tied to a primary operations committee. 2 seats are allocated to Youth, 2 seats to High School, 1 seat to a Youth/High School Liason, and 1 seat to Sportsmanship.

If a Board position is too much of a time commitment, we hope you might consider serving on one of our four board committees (1) High School, 2) Youth, 3) Growth, Diversity & Inclusion and 4) Sportsmanship). Committees will be led by one of our Board Directors and act as a valuable conduit to our overall lacrosse community.  Email admin@oregongirlslax.com for more information.
